Gertie Black Font

Black is the full-throated voice of Gertie. Its ultra-bold strokes and emphatic spur serifs push the early 20th-century comic influence to the forefront, echoing the theatrical title lettering of Sunday strips. Set large, it feels animated and declarative, with compact counters and tight spacing that heighten its punch. Within the family, Black anchors the top of the hierarchy—ideal for dominant headlines, title pages, and splashy openers—while lighter styles step in to support and structure. It pairs especially well with the included dingbats, where image and letterform share the same exuberant spirit.
